Our twelfth recipient of the Wymzee Art Friends Award is ... Cathy Jackson aka (Hazelruthe)

If you knew Cathy, like we know Cathy...if a book were to be written about her...that would be the first line .

If you ever visit Primitive & Rustic Crafts & Decorating Forum on Delphi. She is one of the Forum Mamas.... since 2001, Cathy has been posting her little heart out to all of us, with advice, help, info, birthdays, and more... and she loves to be in a good swap.

She shares things that are fun, useful and inspiring on the forum or her blog on a daily basis.

Cathy lives in SE Idaho with her husband of 27 yrs and her 3 children, all which are still at home--2 daughters, ages 25 and 9 and a son who is 21. She does not have an outside job...but what Cathy does online and does for her family is a job in itself.

She spends most of her days sewing, quilting or creating beautiful quality made items, of course, Cathy does some deep research on her computer before those items are a reality!

Her style is a mixture of primitives, vintage and antiques she also loves to collect anything that has to do with sewing ...and a few other tidbits as well!

The latest thing she has started collecting are old vintage dishes, pitchers, lone lids that have no bottom, serving pieces etc. Especially those with pretty soft floral patterns. Another must have favorite of Cathy's are buttons & pincushions...Oh and linens, lace, and now she is also collecting china doll heads.
So basically if it's old and it has to do with creating something she is in heaven...and Happy, Happy!

Cathy's favorite artists are Nicol Sayre and Christine Crocker and there are so many newer ones that it's hard to name them all.
Cathy's newest project is an altered art halloween witch and she also is getting ready to dabble a bit in some paper mache ornies and then it will be back to making some primitive Christmas ornies, most likely out of wool and hopefully to get a couple of new patterns designed.

They are stuck in her head and need to get out!

Cathy designs and sell patterns on Pattern Mart but she has a lot of designs that she just needs to sit down and get them down onto paper and created into a pattern, Coming soon... hopefully !!

A while back Cathy opened Primitive Peddlers it is a Unique Advertising Directory that Promotes Primitive Artists & Shops, Altered Art, Vintage, Antiques and Much More!
This is another one of Cathy projects, just a way to help folks find the crafters or items they are looking for easily...Kind of a one stop telephone book called...Primitive Peddlers...a website directory of crafters.

A website for crafters to list all the places they sell their items. Cathy posts all their (urls) of their blogs,websites, craft shows, and stores, etc. It is so worth the low cost...and very helpful!

We asked Cathy what bit of advice she had for you crafters out there...she said:

My best tip or advice would be to do what you love and have faith in yourself and when you find that your creativity is running low step back for a bit and let your mind renew and re-engergize itself. Down time from creating is something we all need from time to time and then we can bounce right back. Also, try new mediums, because you never know what you might learn from something new that might help with what you are currently doing or what new thing you might be able to create meshing the old and new together.

Explore, Create and Rest as needed.

Sounds like Cathy has some great advice for us.

Cathy has sewn since she was 10 and have been a dollmaker since she was in her early 20's, and has been a quilter for about 5 years now and also a pattern designer for about 4 years.

We here at Wymzee Art feel she sure knows what she is talking about....and is very deserving of this honor.
